Mortise Latch

THE CHALLENGE

A mortise latch on a boat lock assembly was malfunctioning. To investigate the problem, the client dismantled the latch and uncovered some broken injection molded plastic parts inside.
The mortise latch makes use of a small rocker arm, which transmits the rotation of the handle to the tongue which then retracts, unlatching the door. The tongue, rocker, or both were broken on each of the three latches. This particular brand of mortise latch sells for roughly $350, with no options available for replacement parts.

THE SOLUTION

Replik8 Studios 3D modeled and printed new latch components which substituted perfectly in place of the original parts.
